BIO-SPIRITUAL FOCUSING

Focusing was first developed at the University of Chicago by Dr. Eugene Gendlin, a colleague of Dr. Carl Rogers.  He realized that we don't just think meaning in our minds, we carry in in our bodies as well!  "Felt meaning" is the hidden motivator in many of our relationships, career choices, business decisions and outlooks on life.

BioSpiritual Focusing involves learning to hold the body-feel of what lies inside you in a more caring, open and gentle way.  It is growing close to the inner felt meaning that needs to be heard so, eventually, it can unfold and you can carry it in a different way.  That's important!  Sometimes, external issues that disturb us remain the same.  But if we can carry them in side in a way that allows them to change and even surprise us with fresh meaning, that makes a real difference in how we feel.  This is especially true of things we can't change like growing old for example.  There are six areas introduced in BioSpiritual Focusing.

1. Learning to sense how an issue feels in your body, not just what you think about it

2. Learning to have a "Carring-Feeling-Presence toward difficult issues inside you

3. "Owning" your issue so it can tell you its story

4. Learning to tell when your issue has spoken and changed

5. Learning to never push or force your issue to move (this is an important doorway into the life of Spirit)

6. Nurturing the movement of Spirit in your body
